Pressure Washing Forklifts

This is a quick article on pressure washing forklifts at a local trucking terminal. Aspen Power Washing gets requests to clean all types of things and pressure washing forklifts are one of them. While cleaning the building at this facility we were also asked to cleaned their forklifts. The forklifts are kelp inside the building and were covered with a light dirt and oil film. Before we started cleaning them we had the supervisor move the forklifts outside. Electrical components on the forklifts (computers and scanners) were covered before cleaning. This wad done to keep water from entering the components and causing damage to them.

Before cleaning the forklifts we had to mix the cleaning solution. The cleaning solution the we mixed was 1 gallon of Simple Green degreaser to four gallons of water in a 5 gallon pail. We did not need to mix a large amount of cleaner so using a 5 gal pail was more sufficient than using or normal 50gal mix tank. After mixing the cleaning solution we used our NorthStar 12 volt pump to apply it to the forklifts. This soft washing process allowed a stronger solution mix that cleans grease better. After applying the cleaner to all five of the machines, we then rinsed. The solution broke down must of the surface oil and dirt so rinsing was fairly easy. After applying the cleaning solution we used a ball valve to rinse. Using a ball valve allowed for better control of water and pressure being used. After the forklifts were rinsed they were left outside until they were totally dry. Then they were placed back into the warehouse by the supervisor.
