How To Clean Red Mud From Brick?

Today we cleaned the brick on a newly built house in Forsyth, Ga. Red dirt splashed up on the brick from the rain before the landscaping was installed. The builder wanted to have the brick cleaned before turning the house over to the owner. In this post we will show you how to clean red mud from brick.

How Did We Clean It?

First, we mixed hydrochloric or muriatic acid with a surfactant / soap in a 2 gal. pump sprayer by following the manufactures instructions. After mixing the solution, we applied it to the brick in 5 ft. sections at a time. Some sections took multiple applications, so we waited 10 to 15 min. between applications, then rinsed.

How To Rinse ?

We rinsed the brick using a commercial grade 4000 psi pressure washer. We used a 40 degree spray nozzle on our pressure washing wand to get a wide spray pattern. This nozzle is less aggressive and cleans brick really well. We started cleaning the brick at the bottom, working our way up to the top, cleaning 4 ft. sections at a time. We continued this process around the base of the house until it was complete. The brick looked great after it was completely dry. I hope this post on “How To Clean Red Mud From Brick?” was helpful.
